Paper Honeycomb Core

Paper Honeycomb Core

Continuous Honeycomb Core

Continuous Paper Honeycomb Core is a perfect hexagonal shaped strong and lightweight core or filling material, made of 100% recycled paper. Paper Honeycomb core is widely used as a low-cost core material in interior doors, partition walls, furniture panels and various components for the automotive industry.

• 100% recycled paper
• High pressure and compression strength
• Appropriate for gluing processes with UF, PVA or PUR Hotmelt
• Suitable as a core material between facings of softwood, hardboard, plywood, plasterboard, chipboard, MDF, HDF, melamine and steel
• Qualified as a core material between flat and moulded facings
• Easily adapts to any shape
• Outstanding deformation properties
• Available with or without ventilation slits or holes
• Available is sizes as per customer’s requirement

Applications

Applications:

• It is widely used in the furniture industry for making Doors, Internal partitions and other composite panels.
• It is widely used in the automotive industry for making sunshades, spare tire covers, trunk plates, door trim panels, hat boards and roofing.

About Honeycomb Core

About Paper Honeycomb Core:
This light but strong core owes its strength and compactness to the perfect hexagonal shape of its cells which make it extremely resistant to compression in its innumerable applications. With a design inspired by real honeycomb and thanks to a state of the art production system, our product is unequalled compared to other types of core materials or other paper products used for similar purposes. We have reached a high level of specialization, placing us among the most qualified industries in this sector, thanks to the remarkable construction features and the superior quality of the materials employed.

Making Honeycomb Doors

Making Honeycomb Doors:
The assembly of raw door/panel with honeycomb inside is quite simple:
1. framework;
2. honeycomb paper;
3. two skins (surface layers).

Therefore, once a frame is assembled, honeycomb is placed inside of it and coverings (previously smeared with glue) are set into place. After this, the panel is placed inside a press.

Honeycomb Panels

What are Paper Honeycomb Panels?
Lightweight paper honeycomb panels consist of three base elements:

Face:
Top layer and Bottom layer.

• MDF, HDF
• Moisture resistant ply
• Particle board
• Pre laminated faces
• Cement boards
• Veneered ply

Core:
Hexagonal Paper Honeycomb

Paper Honeycomb derives its immense strength from its interlocked hexagonal grid which is a gift we have received from the nature. This, when coupled with faces on the top and bottom, make for thousands of I-Beams. providing excellent compressive and flexure strength.

Frame:
optional (with or without)

• Timber
• MDF
• Chipboard

What is a light weight panel

What is a light weight panel?
A panel showing a density of less than 1100 lbs/m³ falls into the category of light weight panels.

Advantages

Advantages of Paper Honeycomb Panels
• Weight reduction approx. 50 – 70 %
• Very high load bearing capacity
• Material reduction approx. 60%
• New facilities for design
• Wide spans of panels
• No sagging
• Better aesthetic appeal with thicker panels at affordable prices
• Simple handling and transport
• Long life of product due to light weight resulting in limited stress on hardware

• Veneering and Coating

Processing

Edging: Edge binding from Rehau and Döllken

Honeycomb frameless panels frame insertion process

Paper Honeycomb frameless panels frame insertion process
Paper Honeycomb Homogeneous composite frameless panel consists of paper honeycomb core sandwiched with face materials of uniform thickness. Remove (milling) the honeycomb and a portion of the face materials using a spindle molders. A step will be formed on the face material as shown besides.

Apply adhesive on the frame or the face material and insert the frame in the milled out area. A PU based adhesive will give the best results. Panels could later be pressed, along with laminate pressing for better bonding. Same process could be repeated for all sides for frame insertion.

Hardware Technology for Honeycomb Panels

Hardware Technology for Paper Honeycomb Panels:
Today most advanced hardware fittings company manufacture special connectors for Paper Honeycomb Panels. Hafele, Hettich and Titusoni are some of the companies supplying these special hardware.
